the first known <spiral army> guild was formed on [undermine] server on october 10th 2006. the guild leader is no longer ponderance(the new leader is Rogneil. the guild lottery was initiated a week after to add a perk to the recruitment process.
the entire reason this guild was created was to be a place for people to meet and have fun playing the game together. a set place for people to bullshit with the added bonuses of maybe finding partners for parties and raids, having access to a stylish guild tabard and access to a guild lottery which tends to gain in popularity over the weeks which also causes the pot to grow in surprising size.
at the time this is being typed ponderance is the main and only recruiter. the two methods of recruiting being used right now are open channel and whispers. the open channel method includes a message declaring open recruitment with a small followup such as "looking for people who like to bullshit and are not ready for raiding or pvp guilds just yet." if there is a response a recruitment question is sent that would probe as to wether they are able to share profanity, tasteless jokes and playful rude gestures. after that a guild invite is sent. the whisper method follows the same principle.
there are no plans to turn the guild into a raiding guild. there are also no plans to turn it into a pvp guild in the future. the reason for this is because the guild leader does not wish to be pulled back into that habit. being stuck at the computer with no ability to walk away for any social or business reason has been cause for serious setbacks in friendships, family and business opportunity. it also kills productivity on other projects, such as website creation. there are undoubtedly numerous people in similar situations who are not interested in the pvp and endgame parts of the game. there are plenty of endgame and pvp guilds out there and nobody is going to scold those who leave for them.
